What You Can Expect
When your car reach at Fumba Village, meet your Captains on the Beach and board your Mahogany Dhow for the 30-minute drive to your Sandbank cooking class, set amid the coastal zone of Fumba Village. On the way, admire views of the lush, colorful Indian Ocean at Menai Bay Conservation Area.
Sandbank Cooking Experience is a full day trip and includes use of snorkeling equipment with guides and instructors, ice-cold sodas, mineral water and beer, buffet lunch of delicious Zanzibar seafood that includes grilled fish, slipper lobster & calamari. Seasonal fruits and coffee will also be served.
When the tide is high you will also explore the natural lagoon found on Kwale islet, this lagoon is surrounded by a mangrove forest where you will swim and snorkel for an unforgettable experience. At Menai Bay Conservation Area you’ll have chance to swim with Dolphin
Upon arrival at Sandbank, meet your hostess and International Chefs, who will introduce you to the tropical spices, herbs and fresh organic produce that will go into your dishes. Then take your place in the open-air kitchen and begin your cooking lesson!
Make traditional African dishes from scratch — such as Masala fish, coconut rice and seafood platter in coconut milk, and fresh garden salad — and learn a bit about their significance in Swahili culture. Take some time to stroll around Sandbank, if you wish, and admire the panoramic views of Sandbank and Indian Ocean.
Finish your experience by sitting down with your fellow chefs to enjoy your food, accompanied by dessert, fruit and rum punch. Your class ends with the drive back to Stone Town or Zanzibar beach Hotels.
